The Harrison, WC1H 8JF , [Venue Details]Olayá are a band inspired by northeastern Brazilian bandas de pifanos (bamboo flutes), with the elemental force of flutes, rich vocal harmonies, driving percussion and bass.
Their music is heavily rhythmic and contagiously fun, a fresh take on a traditional Brazilian sound never before heard in the UK.
United by their passion for Brazilian music and exploring sounds, Olayá formed in 2023. After their sold-out debut gig, they were quickly approached by bookers across the country and have since headlined at festivals including Jaminaround, Basket of Light, Smugglers, Ealing Jazz Festival & Leeds Festival as well as selling out multiple London gigs. The band have just recorded their debut EP featuring original tunes which weave seamlessly between musical influences such as forró, maracatú, soul, jazz and rock. Olayá’s show at the Harrison will feature these new tunes plus more!
